Accreditation is an obligation that must be carried out periodically by all study programs and educational institutions in Indonesia. The process of submitting accreditation to the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) is carried out through several stages, including the submission of the accreditation form through SAPTO BAN-PT, followed by the desk evaluation stage, field assessment, and the final stage of determining the accreditation status.

On March 28, 2020, the Electrical Engineering Study Program had submitted an accreditation application by sending the form through SAPTO. On August 4, 2020, the Electrical Engineering Study Program entered the online Field Assessment (AL) stage, after more than a year of submitting the accreditation form. Unlike usual, this AL activity was carried out online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as it was still not possible to conduct it in person or offline. The online AL activity in this study program was carried out by 2 BAN-PT assessors, Andani, Prof., Dr., Ir. MT. (Hasanuddin University) and Khairul Munadi, Dr. ST., M.Eng (Syiah Kuala University). The agenda of the online AL activity consisted of several activities, namely discussion sessions with the Faculty, Study Program, lecturers and education staff teams, students, and alumni. As for knowing the facilities and infrastructure, the Electrical Engineering Study Program has made a video and sent it to the assessors.

The preparation carried out by the Electrical Engineering Study Program for the accreditation application took a very long time, especially in the preparation of the accreditation form. In this process, the UTM Quality Assurance Center (PJM) has always provided assistance, starting from discussions about the preparation of the form, guiding the form to SAPTO, conducting discussions for AL preparation, and accompanying during the visitation activity. Hopefully, the Electrical Engineering Study Program will receive a good accreditation assessment result and an improvement from the previous accreditation status. Amin.
